Data processing.

Effective Date

6 September 2026

Version

1.1

This is Design Value's data-processing terms for Mapster, written for the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and related Indian law. Mapster is a product of Design Value.

Section 01

Parties and roles

Data Fiduciary: Design Value, owner of the Product. You: a person in India or elsewhere who uses Mapster. Where you use the Product only for yourself, you are a Data Principal under the DPDPA. We do not offer Mapster as a white-label processor for another company’s customers unless a separate writing says so.

Section 02

Scope

This page covers personal data processed to run the website, place search, security logs, email you send us, and measurement through Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. It does not cover a customer account, because the free Product has none. Commercial use of the Product still needs prior consent under the terms.

Section 03

Categories of data

  • Place-search text, forwarded to Nominatim and not archived by us.
  • Technical identifiers: IP address, user agent, timestamps, in server logs and analytics.
  • Usage events and sampled session behaviour via Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity.
  • Correspondence if you email us.
  • Not processed on our servers: the poster file itself, which is composed in the browser.

Section 04

Processors

We engage the following to process data on our instructions or under their own controller terms:

  • Google LLC / Google Asia Pacific - Google Analytics. Measurement of visits and devices.
  • Microsoft Corporation - Microsoft Clarity. Interaction and session insight.
  • Nominatim / OpenStreetMap community - geocoding of the search string you submit.
  • OpenFreeMap - tile delivery requested by your browser (your IP is visible to them).

Hosting and related infrastructure may also process connection data. We do not sell personal data.

Section 05

Transfers

Google and Microsoft may process data outside India. We rely on their terms and on the Government of India’s notifications under the DPDPA on permitted cross-border transfers. By using Mapster you acknowledge that measurement data may leave India.

Section 06

Security

We use HTTPS, limit who at Design Value can see operational mail, and do not store poster files. No method of transmission is perfectly secure. You should not put secrets into the place-search box.

Section 07

Rights

Under the DPDPA you may request access, correction, erasure and withdrawal of consent, and you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India when that forum is available. Write first to hello@designvalue.co. We will point you to Google or Microsoft where the data sits only with them.

Section 08

Governing law

  • Law: the laws of India, including the DPDPA, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
  • Forum: the courts at Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
  • Fiduciary: Design Value, Chennai (Madras), Tamil Nadu, India, designvalue.co.
